Community Outreach/Evangelism Ideas

Community Outreach we have done:

  • In February, Bethel revived the long tradition of the "Meatball Dinner". We served 100 people and made over $1200. This money will be used (along with money from our May garage sale) to do further outreach to the Palisade Community. In November, we will be purchasing and donating full Thanksgiving meals to be handed out at the food shelf. We will also be sponsoring meals for people to eat for free at Gabby's.
  • We used $200 left over from the Thrivent gift cards for the meatball dinner to purchase food for the Free Little Pantry.
  • We consistently donate $150-$200 per month to the McGregor Food Shelf and will now start donating to the Palisade Food Shelf as well.
  • For the past two Lenten seasons, we have partnered with area ELCA Lutheran churches to do "round robin" Lenten services where pastors rotate through the five churches.
  • Every Monday and Thursday, Loaves and Fishes serves 80+ people a free meal, thus giving away over 160 meals per week.

Ideas for evangelism:

  • Invite someone to church with you
  • Ask Pastor Steve for some invitations to hand out to people
  • Attend as many events as possible and invite others to join you
  • Talk about the church and what you learned from a sermon with other people
  • Start a gratitude journal and share with others what you are grateful for
